Joya Honda

Joya Honda (see map: 14ยฐ37’22.0″N 90ยฐ21’49.9″W), a village in the municipality of Palencia, is not included in most guidebooks for tourists to Guatemala, but it is at the heart of all our tours, because it is the home of The Little Mountain School, our primary focus. Here you will get a first-hand look at the school — campus, faculty, and students — along with the local community of Joya Honda, including our Natural Coffee farm.

In Joya Honda, you will have the opportunity to learn about the family roots of Father Miguel Alvizures’, the founder of The Little Mountain School. You may visit Fr. Miguel’s childhood home and meet some of his family. More broadly, you will have the opportunity to meet other families from the Joya Honda community, immersing yourself in the daily life of local residents and sharing unique moments with them. And, of course, you will get to savor the flavors of truly authentic local cuisine.

Your time in Joya Honda promises to be a memorable and enriching experience, offering you a glimpse into Guatemala’s vibrant culture and heritage.

The Little Mountain School

As you tour the school and delve into its rich history, exploring every corner of this educational institution, you will gain insight into its mission, vision, and values, understanding the fundamental principles that guide its work. The students of Colegio La Montaรฑita will welcome you with open arms to share exciting activities. Enjoy unique moments playing, singing, and interacting with these wonderful children.

Coffee Tour

Let’s not forget about coffee! Visit our Natural Coffee farm to see how coffee is grown. Then learn about coffee production and how coffee gets from the harvest to your cup.

Natural Coffee Farm

You may visit our Natural Coffee farm in Buena Vista, where you will witness the intricate process of planting and harvesting coffee. Although this tour involves some degree of difficulty due to the terrain, the stunning views and the learning experience make it well worth your while.

Coffee Production

It is not enough just to grow coffee. We must also have it dried, roasted, stored, and packaged. Learn about the whole coffee production process, from bean to cup. Explore the coffee warehouses and taste our exquisite product.

Guatemala City

All our tours begin and end at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. Discover the vibrant capital of Guatemala, a city that perfectly combines modernity with its rich history. Stroll through the Historic Center, visit museums, and enjoy the local cuisine.

Lake Amatitlรกn

Just south-southwest of Guatemala City is Lake Amatitlรกn. With stunning views of the lake and the beautiful volcanoes that surround the area, here you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty that Guatemala has to offer. Options here include Pacaya Volcano and Santa Teresita Spa.

Pacaya Volcano

Experience the thrill of ascending one of the most active volcanoes in Guatemala! Enjoy a unique hike, or, if you prefer, ride a horse to the top. This experience offers a moderate level of difficulty, and to fully enjoy it, we recommend bringing comfortable hiking shoes, a cap to protect yourself from the sun, sunscreen, comfortable clothing, and mosquito repellent. Antigua Jade Tour

Flores
